That's the new default upstream design of the input hotplugging code -
/dev/audio is used as the bell for the Virtual Core Keyboard, and the
beep command is also sent to all the physical keyboards, who use the
KIOCMKTONE ioctl on the keyboard device to ring it.
I haven't decided yet if this is a feature or a bug.
