I've tried to install this on my OpenSolaris 2008.11 machine, but
experienced some issues. I followed the instructions given below for
an OpenSolaris machine to do the install.

1) When first rebooting, the gdm greeter did not appear. I had to ssh
in to the machine and restart gdm in order for the greeter to properly
show up.
2) When trying to log in through gdm, there were some odd input
issues. When the greeter first appeared, keyboard focus would be
locked on the Options button, and neither tab nor mouse clicks would
move the focus to the Username entry box. After clicking OK and
having that login rejected, I could then enter my username and
password.
3) After logging in through the greeter, the Gnome session would not start.
4) After clicking the Options button, selecting Failsafe Gnome and
clicking OK to dismiss that dialog, I could not get keyboard focus
back on the Username field, and the OK/Start Again buttons were each
disabled since there was no input in Username.
5) I finally gave up on gdm, disabled it and ran X from an ssh
connection to the box. X appeared to start fine, so I started
gnome-session on that display. Gnome-session appeared to run fine,
but there was no hardware excelleration (which I believe is to be
expected for my Radeon HD 2600 Pro AGP card.
6) While running the manual X session, I was still experiencing odd
keyboard issues. I would only intermittently be able to type into a
gnome-terminal, though clicking and dragging with the mouse continued
to function.
7) I received the following error in my Xorg.0.log file:
(EE) XKB: Couldn't open rules file /usr/X11/lib/X11/xkb/rules/base
That file indeed does not exist, but I'm not sure how it's being
configured, or if I should just be linking one of the rules files that
do exist to that path.

I hope this information is helpful. I'm not sure what else to
include, but feel free to ask questions.
