Alan,

I tried installing this on an OpenSolaris 2008.11 that was running in 
VirtualBox 2.1.0 running on OpenSolaris 2008.05.  I ran into the same 
missing /usr/X11/lib/X11/xkb/rules/base file that others have run into 
and tried the workaround linking xorg. But, that also failed. 
Unfortunately, I managed to hose the machine doing something else and 
need to reinstall the OS and VB, so that's as far as I got.
