I believe you will still need an updated Xorg driver to run on
the i945, as the one in 6.9 only supported up to 915GM.

When the Xorg server is updated, you will be able to get it
by any of these methods:
- build from source and install
- use the upgrade-X script from the source tree to pkgrm the
   old packages and pkgadd the packages from the SXCR media
- do a full OS upgrade via SXCR's installer or live upgrade
  (assuming you haven't done a BFU to Break Full-OS Upgrade)
- do a fresh OS install via SXCR's installer
