Greetings,

I recently updated from OpenSolaris 200x build 127 to build 128a.

Much to my dismay, I've discovered that input from my USB mouse has
become sporadically delayed. Moving the mouse back and forth is
frequently interrupted as the system seems to start ignoring input from
the device and then suddenly starts again.

Going to back to 127 restores the normal silkiness I expect.

Now here's where it gets weirder.

I normally use Metacity, *not* compiz.

But, on a whim, I decided to try enabling Visual Effects -> Normal under
System -> Preferences -> Appearance.

Much to my surprise, my mouse cursor was suddenly restored to its normal
silken movement. Daunted, I then disabled Visual Effects again, and
surprisingly, the smooth movement remained.

I then decided to re-enable Visual Effects, logged out, and logged back in.

The laggy movement was back. But this time, playing with Visual Effects
settings made no difference.

So, I disabled Visual Effects again, logged out, logged back in.

The laggy movement was back, so I then tried re-enabling Visual Effects.
Mysteriously, this again restored normal, smooth cursor movement.

I'm a bit flabbergasted here. I've already checked prstat several times
to ensure that the system's load average was low and that there were no
rogue processes.

Does anyone have ideas as to how to debug this rather bizarre issue?

Cheers,
