Yes, like you say, I originally considered using a PCIe x1 slot for the video card, but then after looking at the manual I was unsure if a PCIe graphics card that was NOT in the PCIe x16 slot would work. That's why I began to look into the possibility of using a standard PCI 2.2 slot-based card.
Unfortunately the manual is not specific enough to say whether I can use a PCI 2.2 video adapter, thus allowing non-video card usage of the two PCIe x16 slots for things like SAS/SATA HBAs etc... -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
