As much as we aspire to be communists, equally I think we must allow other
people to pursue whatever lifestyle they want in society, more espeacially
in a country like South Africa. We cannot always want to be different from
the society and force them to think and do things like we do. None of us
is forced to watch those things. Sometimes we just have ourselves to blame
when people do not really take us serious, even though they vote for us,
but really some of the things we complain about on daily basis are just
out of touch.
I do not care what they do in China or Cuba, but this is South Africa,
despite the presence of members of the commuist party, we are different
from those countries with real communists.
I think when we do not haev anything of national importance tosay, we
rather just keep quite than keep on shooting ourselves on the foot
whenever we release statements.
Those soapies are creating jobs for the people in the fields of arts, who
are not going to see deployments or work from any other institution in
this land or somewhere. They were born and trained to do just that...act
in soapies. Are we then saying the public broadcaster must do away with
those jobs? What do we then give to those who are going to be affected?
Already we have a huge number of the unemployed people, let us not make
the matters worse by making such unrealistic views.
I think in June especially, we must be focusing raising what we want to
see the NYDA doing for the youth of the land, after the failure of NYC and
UYF, than try to take their jobs in arts from them.
As a matter of fact, whatever people wish for wouyld not happen, and again
we will be a laughing stock and appear irrelevant to the youth and the
society in general. China is China, so is Cuba, and South Affrica has its
own dynamics that are not communists in nature. We must therefore learn to
live with such or not expose our out of touch with reality.
