Floyd,

I believe that comrades who participate in this forum are not children who can
be blackmailed by your selective quotation of Karl Marx. We do not want to be
deflected from what the real issues are. If there are allegations of corruption
on the part of some ANCYL leaders, let that be investigated without you
intimidating those institutions that ought to conduct such an investigation.
Fighting corruption must not be used as rhetoric when conditions suit a
particular clique. The YL must demonstrate leadership and take upon itself to
assist law enforcement agencies in investigating those of us in the ANCYL who
are alleged to be corrupt.

If you have information about any person, whether journalist or comrade, who is
corrupt, take it to the police station and file a case. Court processes will
then ensue, applying laws of evidence, procedure and criminal law.

If you should know, Marxism is no dogma! The role of media is not only to
engender ideas of the ruling class (maybe you should also unpack who constitute
this ruling class). Media also plays a critical role as watchdogs of society
against the abuse of power as we have seen it. To suggest that we must think
that what ever we read from newspapers is cooked capitalist ideas is rather
mischievous, childish and naïve.

We cannot be shy about defending media freedom because once we allow for
threats to media freedoms, in no time that conduct will be extended to our own
freedoms as citizens. We are painfully aware of the apartheid experiences in
this regard.

Your obsession with a communist takeover of the ANC/ANCYL is a tired argument
and reflects your immaturity in understating the character and class
composition of the ANC/ANCYL.

So please chief, engage constructively than threatening comrade VC using your
selective Marxism dogma.

Mzukisi Makatse

Comrade Mzukisi

Your view is balanced and reflects a sense of organic interaction with
politics, not some desktop mobilisation of communists to support Journalists
against the ANC YL as done by certain people. This mobilisation even goes to
the extent to mobilising some SOS, which has nothing to do with this issue to
oppose the ANC YL, because someone finds it fashionable to oppose the movement.
It's really unscientific and illusionary to believe that media can in a
capitalist system, embrace progressive ideals. Let's wake up and smell the
coffee. This world is real.

I propose that we unpack the character of our media in this country. I am very
sure that we all agree that our media does not play the expected role. In a
class struggle ideas, beliefs and values are important and media is a very
strong tool that cannot be left in the hands of class rivals. But to be honest
in the spats of the past two months you one does not not the difference between
a revolutionary and a reactionary, between communist and capitalist, between
conscious or spontaneous assertions etc. Our media has also played a large role
in pitting comrades against each other. This country, I repeat, is far from
producing alternative media. I was told that Kaya FM or Y-FM, I am not sure
which one, is the product of the ANC. If this is real, are we using it to the
advantage of our revolution?

I believe Floyd we also close space when we attack people that we should have
won to our side. The liberation movement, we say is an omnibus, meaning that we
should mobilise communities and consolidate them behind the ideals of the
working biased NDR. Journalists should form part of that. The recent internal
and dynamic processes in the movement have shown that self-destruct is possible
if there are no revolutionary checks and balances in what we do, these can come
thru patriotic media, revolutionary Alliance, communities, revolutionary
intellectuals etc.

This stems from a correct scientific discovery by a revolutionary
scientific socialist, Karl Marx, whose correct observation was that "the ideas
of a the ruling class are in every epoch, the ruling ideas". I am now worried
that Dominic (whom you refer to as VC) is misguiding 'commmunists" to defend
Journalists, who in a capitalist society are agents of the capitalist mental
reproduction. factionalism has potential to annihiliate our organisation.
