New Age2.png ANC in Mpumalanga Behind President France Nyaka, The New Age, Johannesburg, 14 April 2016 THE ANC leadership in Mpumalanga has thrown its weight behind President Jacob Zuma after the Constitutional Court's ruling against him regarding his private property in Nkandla, provincial chairperson and premier, David Mabuza, said on Tuesday. Mabuza said it was not necessary for the province to back the removal of Zuma from office. He said they would instead prefer to give an explanation to the voters and other stakeholders about what occurred if necessary. "We have been voted to be here. We owe it to the voters and electorate to explain ourselves and about what exactly happened. David Mabuza.jpg "We are not going to support the chorus that says the president must step down," Mabuza said. The ANC's provincial secretary, Mandla Ndlovu, said the party's PEC and all branches in the province had accepted Zuma's apology as well. "A meeting of the ANC PEC and all RECs was convened at the Ehlanzeni district municipality on Tuesday. The meeting accepted the decision of the extended NWC without reservation. The apology of the president was accepted and our structures are at peace with that. "Our branches are waiting for the leadership to properly brief them. We are proud of our branches that there is not a single branch which decided to break the ranks and start jumping the gun," Ndlovu said.
