posts/recent?count=3DN will give you the N most recent posts, though it's limited to 100 (according to the API doc) posts. It wouldn't be, much of a hassle to get posts/all (at most) once a day and simply update it using posts/get. I don't see why someone would hit posts/all that often other than laziness.
