Hi Andy, When you install the extension, there is a wizard that appears that walks you through the registration and import process. By default it imports your local bookmarks into del.icio.us as private (as it replaces the bookmarks menu and the assumption is that you will want to retain them moving forward) and there's an option for auto tagging as well. My guess is that you went through the wizard and left those options enabled, which triggered the import. Let me know if this isn't the case.
If the bookmarks are reappearing after deletion, there's a chance the extension is still loaded and is resyncing your bookmarks.
