Nick, Thanks for the very prompt reply. 'Only while the extension is installed and active does the bidirectional sync occur.' I appreciate that and a moment's less panicky reflection on my part would have made me realise it must, of course, be so.
What I might have meant (but also failed to communicate! -- it's not easy this, is it?), is that I do want to use the new extension ... when you've (from my point of view) "sorted out" the Bookmark Toolbar issue. What would happen I'd meanwhile deleted my (unwanted) Bookmark del.icio.us folder, then, at a later date, installed and enabled a new, revised version of the extension?
