Only someone at Microsoft could really tell us. My take? Less confusion and brand name recognition. With Apple's very successful switcher campaign a lot of folks came to the Mac and were happy to see they could still use Office. It had mostly the same applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) but instead of Outlook it had Entourage. "What is Entourage?" they'd ask. "Well, it's kind of like the Mac version of Outlook," we'd answer in our best Windows-speak that switchers could understand. "Oh, great! But why doesn't it have <insert feature here> like Outlook?" "Um, well, it's *not* Outlook for Mac." "How do I do <insert feature here> in Entourage like I could do in Outlook?" "You can't right now, but every version of Entourage is getting better and including features like that." "Why don't they just make Outlook for Mac?" Crickets... After years of this kind of talk and given the fact that the Mac Office base is growing (I base that solely on the fact that MacBU has nearly doubled it's staff lately) it only makes sense. New users are coming from the Windows side and they know Outlook. Outlook has the reputation. Entourage doesn't. Especially in the corporate world where MacBU is focussing a lot of its new features such as Exchange, SharePoint and Office Communications support. And with Entourage growing more and more like Outlook, it made sense to just call it Outlook. -- William Smith -- YouTalk mailing list List information: http://www.entourage.mvps.org/support_options/list.html List moderator: [email protected], [email protected] To unsubscribe: mailto:[email protected]?subject=unsubscribe
