I googled myself, and all I could find was discussions of SSL in email in Entourage 2004 and 2008 not working! Next, I toggled that little sucker (the checkbox for "SMPT service requires secure connection (SSL)" to "on", sent a test message to another of my email addresses. It left and returned to the other account with no indications of problems. I've left the toggle to "on", and thus far (hopefully including THIS message), nothing seems to be amiss. However, I have absolutely NO idea whether my mail is now encrypted just to my sendmail server, to the recipients who can receive it in this fashion, or not at all.
