Merle, you're like a bouncy little rabbit.
What did I write?: I wrote that when you need reason, pick it up.
And I wrote that when we practice, we must leave reason and reasoning aside.
Drop it completely for that time.
That is all.
Also, don't be so sure of your assertions. I have done lots of things with no
thought(s) whatsoever, including cooking, gardening, speaking, soldering, and
astronomical research. After my first opening with Sheng Yen, it was 2 1/2
months before the mind moved again, and any thought occurred. I deliberately
reduced my practice so that the empty clear open state would erode, and then
built it up again.
Merle, the original mind is a wonderful thing, yet it is ordinary.
Wonderful, because almost no one is lucky enough to experience it; ordinary,
because we all have it and CAN experience it.
If I lived close to you I'd love to teach you to sit, and practice with you so
you'd get the full sense of our way. You'd get an inkling of what we're about,
and, if you continued then afterward with a good teacher, you could awaken.
Then, you could teach *us* and anyone you choose.
Don't be a bouncy rabbit and hop right over the simple points I made for you in
my previous reply. Else, I'll stop caring and won't bother to write. Well,
no, I won't stop caring, but I'll conserve breath... or typing.

PS You mis-quote. The accurate quote is: "What is the sound of one hand?"
First, find the one hand.
