I detected network issues with this values in VMWARE 4.0.0 , try this
workaround and tell us, maybe this solve your problem.
By other hand. How did you installed zen? From our ISO or Installing
your own distro and adding zen from package?

I am running ZLB under VMware 5 (and previously on VMware v4.1),
using hardware version 7. My 2 node cluster is configured as 1
vCPU, 384MB ram, 8Gb vDisk - we do not see any CPU or memory issues.
Have you installed VMware tools? If you need assistance, I have

RAM
(in future I'll assign 16Gb ). May be have to install
linux-image-2.6.32-5-vserver-686-bigmem kernel???
