Hello all.

I've been watching zenoss for about 18 months, we've installed it, uninstalled
it, etc. We've gone back and forth on using it for our monitoring exclusively,
and we've finally decided to do so. I've been configuring it, reading the admin
guide, etc, but I have some questions, which hopefully can be answered:

Currently we use an older version of ipmonitor (before solarwinds bought it).
Basically, we set up a profile (say, Company1), set up the alerting rules (say,
"michael email", which allows me to set the from and to address for that
individual rule, and then the schedule for that rule). Then we set up the
individual monitors, usually snmp, http, etc. With each monitor (say, a load
average monitor), we specify the amount of failures before we're paged (this
helps prevent network glitches from creating pages), and the amount of time in
between each check).

With zenoss, I'd like to do the following:

1. Set up individual snmp monitors (perhaps to check for a 1M load average
being over 15). I'd also like to tell it that if it fails X times (let's say
3), then create an alert, and send a page (meaning if the 1M load average is
over 15 for 3 checks, page us). Finally, I'd like to be able to specify the
time in between checks (generally, 120 seconds).
What is the best way to accomplish this?

2. So far, I have not found a way to specify a different from address for
individual alerts or groups. For instance, we monitor multiple companies, not
just our own hardware. Therefore, we require the ability to specify a from
address for a particular group of servers, for example, group "CompanyA" should
generate alerts from "[email protected]", which allows them to reply
via email if need be.
What is the best way to accomplish this?

3. It would be great to have a daily email of performance reports, such as
availability reports. So far, I have not found an option to email these. For
instance, it would be nice to receive a daily email report of http response
times, and availability for a given website that's being monitoring.
Is this doable?

I'm sure I have many more questions, but those will do for now!

Thanks in advance for any answers.
Michael
