I've been told that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. If that is true, then I am indeed overqualified! Just downloaded for the third time and burned the CD for the third time. Thanks to Rein I was able to verify the checksum as being valid, but the same error still presents itself on each and every boot attempt. In answer to one question, yes, the CD is bootable. It boots fine for a bit, but always ends up at this error:
Error, cannot find Puppy on 'cd' boot media. PUPMODE=1 PDEV1= Exited to initial-ramdisk(initramfs)commandline... (the Linux-guru can now debug. 'e3' editor is available) /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off #_ Just for fun, I tried booting the CD on the XYL's computer. Hers is a Gateway P-IV running at 2.7 Ghz with 1 Gig of RAM. Hers got farther than mine did in the boot process. Hers got to: puppyserialdetect is running It hung there for a few minutes, so I finally gave up on it. My PC is also a Gateway, 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo, with 2 Gig of RAM. The only difference I know of between hers and mine is that my hard drives are SATA and not IDE. Not sure if the CD drive is SATA or IDE, but I suppose that could make a difference. Thanks for all the help and suggestions! 73 Dave KB3MOW Announce your digital presence via our Interactive Sked Page at http://www.obriensweb.com/drsked/drsked.php Yahoo!
