Usenet antidates the Internet by quite a few years. It pretty much
started out with university servers and expanded to almost everywhere.
They used UUCP (Unix to Unix Copy) to send the messages from server to

It's not spam and it's not actually from Microsoft. It's
the latest mail-worm that's going around. I think the

have had 12 today, all different. Mozilla Thunderbird is doing a nice

I usually get over 300/day!
Having a Mac, I don't worry about being infected, but the volume of
email is almost overwhelming.
I use Netscape Communicator 4.79, and while the filters are okay, not
all of them end up in the trash folder, but in my inbox.

I don't get any spam on my home computer. Zip, zero, none. I'm on a
compuserve.net cable modem with no other ISP. Perhaps Compuserve filters
well. At work I get a few spams for prescription medications but that's

I'm pleased
You also probably don't do usenet. Seems that is where most of the
spammers get their addresses from.

Good point. Stenquist is not a common name. Less than 50 in the US last
time I checked. I do have my address on some websites, but I don't use
usenet. In fact, I don't even know what usenet might be :-).

One can put spam blockers in one email address when using usenet. There are
way to avoid spam when using usenet.
Most of the spam I get on AOL is just directed to AOL members.

Yes, I think the attachments are viruses or something, at least I hope
so; I've been saving them for my collection.
Another joy of Macs: virus collections!

Yes, very high rate for two days now. Lots of virus activity early
