I'm sorry, but this does not make any sense. Very few bug reporters will
take the trouble to report bugs in multiple bug trackers. The end user
should perceive Ubuntu/Kubuntu as a linux distribution and not as a

I found out something very interesting and important, I think. There is
only no picture in case a second display is attached. Even if a video is
running at the very same time when the second display is attached, the
video player picture (in my case totem and xine) becomes black.

I also experience frequent system freezes under heavy load. Even though
I am using Ubuntu 9.04 (amd64), I had the very same problems with Ubuntu
8.10 (i386), too.
The freezes are quite easy to reproduce when running BOINC or ripping a
DVD (for instance using k9copy).

combination of deactivating, uninstalling and re-installing the enigmail
add-on which made it finally work. However, I think that it could be
possible to reproduce the problem by copying a thunderbird home

Same here. Also I can confirm that freezes only happen when BOINC is
running. Furthermore, freezes almost only happen while watching videos.
It was exactly the same with Ubuntu 8.10 i386 and it is still the same

seems like the bin-file worked fine, but there have been some errors

The application of view filters does not have any impact on the
displayed todo list. I created a filter open and active (for
uncompleted and active todos), but when I select the filter using
View-Filter-open and active (or via the sidebar),
I forgot to mention that I was using the 64bit version. This might be
important, since I Installed Ubuntu 8.10 32bit a week ago and the NVidia
driver works fine here.

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 32bit and I just installed the NVidia graphics
driver 177. When configuring my display using gnome-display-properties
it shows weird refresh rates, that is 50 and 51. The real refresh rates
are 60 (when set to 50) and 75 (when set to 51). The real
I installed Ubuntu 8.10 32bit the day before yesterday and it seems to
work here, so may be the problem is related to the 64bit, but of course
I can't really tell.

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately it did not help. The behaviour
is still the same. However, I hope it became evident that there are more
people having this problem (out of a very small sample who are ready to
take the time to report the bug).

Well, maybe it is related to my hardware configuration then. Because
otherwise it is a very clean installation, just a few hours old then and
activating the NVIDIA driver was just the second step after the
installation of the newest updates.
My graphics card is a nVidia GeForce 7600GS.
