Well i am a producer and in the almost 20 years i am making music, i
came to the following conclusion:
Booking agencies are evil.
I tried to avoid them as much as i could, all the times i had to deal
with them i ended arranging stuff myself because they just did it
wrong or flat out forgot about it. I know that a couple of high
profile artists always managed to live without them. I personally just
cant handle them i find them a waste of money or resources.

i'd be interested in this kind of info too. it's rough out there for
a (non-producing) dj

Good Evening List
Suppose one wanted to raise ones profile a bit and possibly do a
few more gigs in slightly more exotic locations around our
continent.....
Whats the deal with agents / agencies.
Having perused the www for a bit, my conclusions are that there are
alot of 'DJ' agencies set up for bedroom dj's in macclesfield who
want their own residency in eyebeefa, or sign up for 200 quid and
you're guaranteed a slot at Fernando's on a Friday night.
Is it a case of they'll find you when they think you are a viable
option or ?
Do they have an exclusive right on all your gigs ?
I know a couple of people with them and they take a cut when they
get you a booking. That seems fair enough to me but no other fees
take place.. do they.
Just mulling things over.....as I'm sure there are agents and
artists with some helpful input on here.
