While I'm sure there are good intentions in this... I think this points out the fundamental flaw in awards systems: it aims to declare something "better" than something else. One of the things I enjoyed most about the DEMF performances is the rich diversity and overall top-notch talent represented. I think the awards shows are (and I'm sure this comes as no surprise to anyone) money-driven pageants of PURE SHAME :).
Really though... I think the recognition comes in merely performing at the festival... which I held and will hold in extremely high regard.
