Im surprised that no one has mentioned the new Vestax PDX2000 - it solves the problem of wanting to have a greater pitch range and still having fine adjustment by having 2 pitch faders...
http://www.vestax.co.uk/flash/pdx2000.htm specs: +/- 10% fine pitch control fader +/- 50% ultra pitch control fader allows you quickly change pitch (fastest ever on a turntable) Adjustable Start & brake speed control (slow start/quick start, slow brake/quick brake) Reverse button changs direction of record spin. High condensed moulded body designed for best acoustic sound as well as high endurance against feedback. Newly designed DC motor creates 2.0 Kg/cm of rotation torque and super fast start and brake (within 1/6 rpm). Straight Tonearm System makes skipping almost impossible. Comes with Vestax headshell and slipmat. I havn't played with one, but it seems like the best solution. (heaven forbid we get into a technics 1200 vs xxxx debate though). .joseph ]-----Original Message----- ]From: darw_n [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ]Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2001 12:38 PM ]To: Sakari Karipuro; Dennis Donohue ]Cc: 313@hyperreal.org ]Subject: Re: [313] Gemini CDJ Package For Sale ] ] ]not only all that (which I don't really mind if I compensate), the pitch ]becomes *super* sensitive. you breath on it, and you get adjustment... ] ]Again, its not a problem, but it gets annoying for me to re-learn the ]sensitivity on the fly... ] ]----- Original Message ----- ]From: "Sakari Karipuro" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ]To: "Dennis Donohue" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ]Cc: <313@hyperreal.org> ]Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2001 12:26 PM ]Subject: Re: [313] Gemini CDJ Package For Sale ] ] ]> On Thu, 1 Feb 2001, Dennis Donohue wrote: ]> ]> > ]> > Almost as narrow-minded as the people who say +15% is evil, and should ]never ]> > be tried without the cleansing of a preist. ]> ]> i've been forced to play a lot on 16% technics. after couple of months, ]> the area around +-3 % marked area comes useless, making the dj ]effectively ]> playing everything on at least +6% (or -6), giving playable range around ]> +6 to +12 (yikes). annoying. kills the basslines and bassdrum tones, ]> as well as in house music all vocals... people usually learn ]after they've ]> played for around 4, 5 years that 8% is enough. then they have enough ]> records to play varied tempo stuff, without needing that 16%. ]> ]> > BTW - I like to keep to a certain speed, because that is my ]taste.
