"it upholds his cleancut image."

Interesting choice of words...
I understand what you are trying to say but it's hypocritical of him to take their money in the first place. Moby may think of it as a "Robin Hood" sort of gesture/action but how many people who attend his shows will look at the sponsor and think, "well, it Moby endorses it then it must be good enough for me to buy." By allowing them to place their name and logo all over his tours, etc. he does endorse them... regardless of what he may do with the money afterward. You see, I think in the long run the car companies and others win because he gives a one time contribution to this or that cause but his fans continue to think that this or that product is good because they saw it at a Moby concert or advert. You're right when you say it's clever... he gets the money to tour (so he can sell more records later) and then takes it and gives it (not all of it I'm sure, his record company and vendors are going to want some) to a charity and says "see what a sneeky fella I am."
I don't and won't buy it.

Nobody would get any money in that case... Those who
deserve it or those who don't. The way he's going is
clever, someone benefits and it upholds his cleancut
image.

Later,
Nick:)
