I have heard people say this same thing about trance. lol (just replace
techno w/ trance as I did below)

what really gets me is when people call trance, techno. but I guess they
know no better.

it's also very hard to force feed anyone anything, some people just reject
because you forced it on them. (i'm like this)

I think the best thing to do is just play some good music around them and if
they like they do.
but remember some peoples musicial tastes are a lost cause. and what is
music to me is noise to my grandparents (my mom likes techno lol). I
remember when the only electronic music I liked was industral and I thaught
techno was to repeditive. my friends played it around me and it grew on me.
after a while I was looking for new artists. then buying records. a monster
was spawned!

what I'm saying is you may not like there music, but respect there choices,
dont be forceful and they will come around. even if they dress like
strawberry shortcake.
