Well, bad soundsystems are not the main issue. It's how some promotors try to get money out of every single aspect related to a party. It has nothing to do with music anymore. Another frustration on my side is the fact that almost nobody (mind though, there are exceptions) dares to take any risks anymore: always the same names on the flyers. Not that I want to see something new every week, but it's nice to see some new faces and here some new or at least other sounds. I guess that there is a majority of people who *want* to hear the same people all over again, but it's a pitty that the others seem to fall between the cracks without much choice for an alternative. By being involved in the scene (a bit, as a hobbyist writer) you get an insight in how some people run their organisations and parties and frankly in some cases that is enough to turn me away. If there is no respect for the music, the artists and the people, then don't expect respect back from me.

Enough with the analysing, have fun everybody when you hit the clubs/events this weekend.

John

Oh boy, this is *so* true!
Going out here in Belgium seems to get more expensive day by day..
If they would invest in a good sound system, I wouldn´t doubt to pay. But
that´s too often not the case!
The Ghent "10 days off" festival is one of the exceptions..
