I can't believe Kraftwerk wouldn't drop their fee, and just do it for a gift, but hey I don't know the full story.
Oh come on... Do you know what must cost them to put on a show of that size and technical prowess, both with their exceedingly high standards of audio and video quality? I mean, their shows are utterly mindblowing for good reasons, that can't be cheap to put on. I think offering a discount is one thing, but come-on.. their live show is so excellent because of attention to every detail, that takes a lot of work, prep and help.. which in a modern age translates into money for equipment, set, transportation, crew, etc. If you are talking just about the artists fee though, that is something I would hope they would consider reducing, since it is a FREE event afterall.
Believe me I think they would be the ULTIMATE act at a Detroit movement festival.. but to expect them to do it for free is just unrealistic. Should we start a letter-writing campaign to Kraftwerk though, to get them to reconsider and try to work it out and make it possible? :) Everybody mail them a postcard from where you're from.. email never has the same effect. What's a street address to reach them?
