hi tom,\

everyone's always eager to "get to where things are hot" or
whatever. this is of course another reason i really admire people
like KDJ and mad mike. why can they sell records everywhere and
still be satisfied in detroit when 75% of the other cats move
away? these new inventions called the internet and plane travel
make lots of things possible without moving. maybe these people
have no attatchment to their families. i know that i could never
leave my family behind just because i wanted to move to berlin or
whatever other nonsense people are onto.

well it could be said at this point, don't knock it till you've tried it.

if my main focus was music i'd happily move to a city where i thought my shti was best received. and where i could readily go out and see other stuff i was interested in.

why limit yourself by geography?

also, it's not really a question of skipping hard work by moving to a big centre more a case of critical mass in getting things interesting. doing your own thing, wherever, takes effort. in the right place that effort has more chance of reward (and i don't mean money, i mean a good party where people dance and have fun).

there is nothing more disheartening than planning a party for weeks and not getting the turnout cos the people in the place your are in are into trance, acid-techno, or whatever.
