First Detroit techno record : Cybotron Techno City and Clear (but only on Street Sounds 4 and the Crucial SS - does that count?) 1986ish When & how I got into techno : Dual pronged approach - unconsciously through aforementioned Street Sounds comps and teacher playing Man Parrish, Art Of Noise, Propaganda and Model 500 at playtime, didn't know what techno or Detroit was, but just thought it was cool - consciously through industrial/new beat/rave in ther late 80s.
yeah i had the streetsounds comps when i was a kid (1985ish) too...didn't realise cybotron were detroit at the time.
