Yeah, I dig that book too. It's an interesting history of 100 years of 'electronic' sounds - sorta.

ocean of sound by david toop, essential reading imho. Not necessarily
about the history of dance, its more about electronic music in general.
Good book though, get it..

Oh, i forgot...a while ago i read 'Adventures on the wheel of steel -
the rise of superstar dj's' by Dave Haslam....and that was quite an
entertaining read..on the history of dj-ing. Although more focussed on
the UK i think it's a good read for a lot peeps interrested in music:-)

But there must more books around.....

Bill Brewster's "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" is good, a new edition
is about to be published as well.

A few people have been raving about "Love Saved The Day" (right title?).
I haven't read it, but it's supposed to be ace - more on a disco tip
though.

Dan Sicko's "Techno Rebels" is supposed to be very good, but again I
haven't read it (much to my embarrassment).

G'day all,

Does anyone on this list know a (good) recent book on the history of
house/techno/dj culture or something like that?? I really would to
have nice read but i could not find any proper books on this
subject...maybe someone could point me in the right direction??

Thanx

Martijn
