I'm surprised at how much other artists give props and not always the
artists you think - Annie was giving big props to Derrick May and
Underground Resistance in Aus interviews on her recent tour. It's up
to them to carry the legacy and educate new punters on the heritage
of this music.

blast the audience with a quick dose of knowledge like "The music
Industry sucks and you are all sheep!!!".
The uneducated masses, definitly no... But I started with Public
Enemy, then
go back to Afrika Bambaataa, and to electro, and I started to
understand
more about Kraftwerk. Then I began to love hip-hop, that became
hip-house
for a (fortunatly) short time, and (guess what) this songs boosted
my interest for
house and Chicago... 300 miles away from Chicago was Detroit and
so I started
to listen to some techno...
And now, 18 years later (aaaargh), I'm signed to a 313 mailing
list, tryin' to
learn more.
So, probably Juan Atkin will never be recognized by the masses,
but maybe
an award would give him some more fame, more bucks and (maybe) 200
more
kids will begin to be more interested in techno...
...And we'll have 200 more people who can listen to us when we
talk about
how music industry's soooo fake ;)
