as joost says, the beos DOES run on a mac. so no, finalscratch doesn't
run on the mac os.
BeOS hasn't run on macs for a long long time. The BeBoxen used to be
powerpc boxes and beos ran on macs cause they had the same cpu, but when
apple was tanking they jumped to x86 and haven't looked back.
Besides, running beos on powerpc to run final scratch wouldnt hardly be a
'mac version'.
Even if BeOS did run on a mac though, final scratch won't, unless they
specifically release powerpc-beos binaries (yeah right). All this is moot
though, nobody but bald geeks with weird glasses will run beos on their
laptop just for final scratch anyways.
However, to be honest, you don't want to run this system under windows or
mac os ANYWAYS.
one of the most amazing things about the beos is its natural audio latency
time. STANDARD this OS spits out audio at THREE MILLISECONDS. 3
ms. Think about that one more time. That means the ONLY time a dj is
going to really noticed any latency is when he's doing some heavy
scratching, and minute at best. When you look at windows with its 35ms on
a great day latency, you see why this system needs to be run on be os.
a) it's not that amazing
b) it's not unique to beos
c) 35msec latency is approaching noticible, but for djing purposes,
wouldn't affect anyone except those doing lots of scratching. Besides, with
a program specifically written to be a realtime application, it would much
likely be a half to a third of that, which is virtually unnoticable. this
is possible on both macos and all versions of windows.
