Radio 4 is what makes the UK worth living in. I listen to nothing else on the radio. I'm deadly serious on both counts.
After that there was Melvyn Bragg's "In Our Time", which is ace too, but I had guests. It's a right laugh round mine, believe me: later on I settled down to read up on Donald Davidson and finish Ovid's "Metamorphoses". With a glass of Lagavulin and my cat. I may look 17 on the outside, but I'm about 60 on the inside. In any case, I have to listen to Radio 4 in order to pick up those secret Oxbridge codes I was taught when I did that "how to run the country" class for Mods.
