Hi Mohit,

As Pranav pointed out, it is easier to use an escalator if you hold on to
the railing on the right as you place your feet on the escalator. This way,
if your feet are midway between two steps (it can happen, as the steps come
up or go down when the escalator starts moving), then you can either step
down or step up without losing your balance. Ensure that you always hold on
to the railing on the right side of the escalator, as the left side is for
people who wish to walk up or down the escalator.

Also, if you are a cane user, place your cane on the step ahead of you. As
the escalator moves up or down, you can feel the steps going up or down.
When the escalator nears its destination, it is easy to spot the final step
if your cane is on the step ahead of you. You are then not suddenly thrown
off the escalator without you realising it.

Hope this helps.
Geetha

Subject: [AI] Using escalators

Hi folks,

Nowadays, almost all malls have escalators.
So, do you all use escalators in malls, or do you prefer the elevator?
If you do use escalators, then please inform me about the way in which you
manage to use it successfully and safely.

Thanks and regards,
Mohit
