Good discussion going on. I would just say that sometimes it happens that a totally blind person is unable to directly talk to somebody just beyond audible distance, even if that somebody happens to be your wife at a small distance because you cannot direct your behaviour specifically at a person or just gaze at her, walk down and find her and so on. I mean to say we tend to loose direct line of communication at will which sighted persons take for granted.
I know I have not been able to makemyself clear to many of you. But those who have followed my point and have perhaps undergone the experiemce would appreciate my concern. On one of two occasions my friends have gesture me by pressing my hand that I should stop speaking. My advise is don't think too much about such issues.
