Of course yes, Mamata. Sometimes the earlier manager gets transferred, and the new one is not ready to attest the cheque. In such situation, we have to convince him afresh. There is no other way out. Bava bana hai to hindi to bolna padega. Being blind, we can't avoid all the hardships. We have to accept them in their face value. ----- Original Message ----- From: "mamta" <mamta.chandiram...@sbi.co.in>

So sir, Every time you get a new check book do you take it to the manager to
sign all the cheques?
does he do it with out any questions or problems?

As I feel that We may not be able to issue checques every time by coming to
the bank and get one cheque signed at a time.

your any views and suggestions are awaited.

Is there any circular which says that once we get a check Book we can get it
attested or signed by the manager so that our cheques are not dishonored?

I mean any RBI Circular? if yes do please attach it for me.

Thanks a lot.

Rgds

Mamta.

I have been using cheques issued to the third party. However they have to be
attested by the manager of the bank branch. No cheques issued by me have
been dishonoured so far.

Solution is to have thumb impression attested by bank official on all
cheques at the time of issuance of chequebook itself so that the cheque is
honored later as the thumb impression is already attested.
The idea was given by CCPD way back in 2005 judgment, but seems to have
fallen by the wayside. Biometrics was to have been adopted long ago, but
is in the pipeline...

Subject: [AI] Cheques with thumb impression

Hi all,
We would like to know from those of us who use thumb impression on their
cheques if they have to do anything different while taking new cheque
books
or issuing cheques. Also if you know the procedure your bank follows to
approve your cheques issued to third parties, both locally & outstation.

Banks have higher resistance to give cheque book to a blind person who do
not sign but use thumb impression. Your solutions would help us to pass
them
on to our callers who face such situation and also sensitise banks.

Any replies on the matter would be appreciated. Please specify your bank
and
branch as well. You may write back on or off the list as you may think
fit.

thanks,
