Solution is to have thumb impression attested by bank official on all cheques
at the time of issuance of chequebook itself so that the cheque is honored
later as the thumb impression is already attested.
The idea was given by CCPD way back in 2005 judgment, but seems to have fallen
by the wayside. Biometrics was to have been adopted long ago, but is in the
pipeline...

Subject: [AI] Cheques with thumb impression

Hi all,
We would like to know from those of us who use thumb impression on their
cheques if they have to do anything different while taking new cheque books
or issuing cheques. Also if you know the procedure your bank follows to
approve your cheques issued to third parties, both locally & outstation.

Banks have higher resistance to give cheque book to a blind person who do
not sign but use thumb impression. Your solutions would help us to pass them
on to our callers who face such situation and also sensitise banks.

Any replies on the matter would be appreciated. Please specify your bank and
branch as well. You may write back on or off the list as you may think fit.

thanks,
