I expect that acpi_irq_balance (in PIC mode) may have sometimes
helped because of the case in comment #82 -- for if acpi is
sharing interrupts with another device, then its handler
will get invoked whenever that other device causes an interrupt
-- in that case, USB.

I've found that booting 2.6.16-rc1 simply with "irqpoll"
is a sufficient workaround to make acpi events work
on the 5150.

IRQ9 in /proc/interrupts will not increment, but if you
cat /proc/acpi/event (or run acpid:-) then all the appropriate
acpi events seem to come through.
