Hm, yes, eeepc-laptop was loaded even without acpi_osi=Linux.  My latest tests
were on a 1001P, though.  I believe the only difference between the 1001P and
the 1005P is

1001P: WinXP, carbon-imitation case
1005P: Win7, glossy case

I'd say, they are completely identical when it comes to hardware.
