Weird, only one ACPI video hotkey event for a single hotkey press.
so there should be only one input key event...

if you blacklist ACPI video driver and then run xev like you do in comment #14,
does the "keycode 233 = (keysym 0x1008ff02, XF86MonBrightnessUp), state = 0x0"
still pop up when pressing the hotkey any more?
BTW: you can add "blacklist video" in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf to
blacklist the ACPI video driver if ACPI video driver is built as a module.
