Weighing in a bit late, but:

We've been using ExtJs for several years and are quite happy with it as a
framework. One thing to note, though, is that we've found it to be most useful
when developing an entire *application* (or, as the case may be, an entire
*page*) with it. While you can certainly use it to implement Autocomplete and
other widgets (their "grid" component is the best I've seen anywhere), its
strength tends to be in integrating lots of disparate components and presenting
a desktop-like application experience. The library is also really large, which
may or may not be a deciding factor. Takes a little while to get used to their
methodology, but very much worth it.

On the other hand, if you're looking for some lighter functionality, the
jQuery/jQueryUI combination that was mentioned is quite good. As is
PrototypeJs/Scriptaculous. Different ways of attacking the same basic issue.

Good luck!

Look at ExtJS. Superb UI components, straightforward to wire up to 4D via
JSON. Steep learning curve, especially if you're new to Javascript. Worth it,
though.
