Basically we will follow what python.org does for its Python distros, so that
binary compatibility is maintained. This means that ActivePython 2.3.x builds
will be built with VS6 and ActivePython 2.4.x builds with be built with

I've just been hoping to get a better handle on what we're talking about
with the phrase "a bit of time" for coming up with this next-generation
system, so we can make longer-range plans.
Unfortunately, that limbo will have to remain for the time being. We'll be
catching up with ActivePython builds fairly soon, but there likely won't
be a PyPPM replacement for some time.
