Rachel, Here are some links to various information about Purdue's process. We revised it a couple years ago to create a policy hierarchy (shown in appendix to policy V.C.1), which provides varying levels of approval depending on the type of document. System-wide policies have the most rigorous approval process, with system-wide standards being slightly less rigorous, and it goes down from there. The idea was to make it so that things that change more frequently (like procedures) would be easier and faster to change.

I manage our Regulations (govern all institutions) and our System Administration Policies (just this institution). I would greatly appreciate any links to institutional websites that give an overview of your policy process and any feedback you may have about what works and what is a sticking point. This process was managed by our Office of General Counsel for years and was never really formalized, so I'm starting from a mostly blank slate. Thank you very much, Rachel G.
