I am familiar with the history of max and PD.

I used PD/GEM 3 years ago and was not very happy with the video
functionality at the time. Based on the response from everyone It
seems like I should definently take another look at it.

We try to offer open source alternatives to all software here at the
Digital Media Design program and PD is the open source alternative
that we offer to max. So yes it will be introduced. We are using
Max/Jitter due to the installed base of support and the well
documented video tools. It is also a question of having students dive
right in, or fight with a poorly documented and poorly considered user
interface.

Max is a clunky environment in my opinion and has some major UI
problems, but PD seems much less intuitive, more difficult to use, and
the documentation leaves alot to be desired.

Maybe I should be asking if there are any PD practioners in Wellington
that could be a tutor. Any out there?

thanks for the comments,

Morgan
