Great discussion, How about a network of events - every year there are ADA Agm's there's SPARK, SCAPE, SCANZ every two years, etc - it would be possible to create social networks and move workstations and gear around to each event (equipment needs budget). There would need to be a local co-ordinator who facilitated events, that takes budget, as does some form of national co-ordinator. In regions, the schools often have established communication infrastructure, these could be co-ordination points. It would be good to see something spread wide and throughout the country, predicated on a vision of reaching the widest possible community via electronic media and engaging with it. There would need to be interaction with groups outside of the art context - like the Linux groups that are every where.

I don't have the gears -- but I have a 3-bdrm farmhouse with a nice outlook and two outside buildings, lots of lawn & 43 acres of paddocks around it if that might be useful. If someone wanted to help organise a bit of a summer camp there you'd be more than welcome. It's an hour south of Auckland in the country area of Miranda (the beach is mudflats & mangroves and international-traveller birds, but there is also the 'largest natural hotsprings in the southern hemisphere' (last i checked) nearby) and good fish and chips. :). //t.
