Hay Im originally from Hamilton. Would love to see something like that in Steel Town. OLS is great for what it is, but does not necessarily address the same audience as potentially a national org such as CLUE which is targeting, at least how its expressed here on this list, a new user base that includes personal use, SMB, SME and larger corporate users. OLS to the best of my understanding has a very technical orientaited focus that is preceeded by the kernel summit. This is a great niche but think is differs from a potential CLUE audience in it most general terms. Also OLS is vendor neutral and does not allow for vendor promotion. This is a good strategy for what the OLS attempt to focus on. CLUE on the other hand may choose to have a different strategy based on it target audience. And finally one more consideration. Since there is a desire and hope to build this into a national venue, why not consider a bi annual event that reflects the geographic difference of this land. For example: A winter show/conference in Victoria/Vancover et al: BC A summer show/conference at Tremblant Village/MT Tremblant Quebec ( this one is easy to coordinate as i used to guide there) Venues could be selected based on growth ratios/potential, target audiences, regional interests. Its a shame that we only have warmer climates in winter on one coast. But me thinks you get the idea.
