I agree. It's my opinion that the 'technical' Linux user base is already
fairly established across Canada with the majority of technical users being
LUG members. There are also a number of non-technical end-users who are
members of LUGs of course, but it's been my experience that non-technical
Linux users tend to become disenfranchised with their LUGs fairly quickly as
the topics discussed are usually of a technical nature. This happenned with
TLUG in Toronto and the result was the formation of NewtLUG (as a SIG, I
think) to accommodate people who just want to use Linux, not hack it.
CLUE directly and/or indirectly will target both. How this happens remains
to be determined, however, one possibility is drawing on the experience in
Toronto and developing a NewtLUG program nation wide within the LUGs.
Similarly, CLUE advocacy projects will hopefully increase the use of Linux
in many sectors across Canada, thereby increasing the number of Linux
oriented jobs for the techies out there.
