What type of projects would you like to see CLUE lead and/or coordinate?

A historical example is the CLUE Linux Centre which was a project that
recycled old hardware, installed Linux and offerred free training on Linux
to those who would otherwise not have the means or opportunity to obtain
computer training.

Some projects I'd like to see CLUE work ok are:

1. Linux in education.

Piggy-backing on the opensource educational efforts that have already begun,
such as schoolforge, I'd like to see a project to formally propose a
Linux/Opensource for the school systems in Canada. As we all know,
education is consistently underfunded, therefore, doesn't it make sense not
to wasts valuable tax dollars on license fees for operating and software
when free alternatives exist? Obviously, this effort will require more
research and the proposal should be formal in nature, submitted through the
proper governmental channels, etc.

2. Rural Workforce Enablement

I'd love to see a project that encourages and enables those living in rural
locations to become computer professionals. I'm envisioning a large rural
computer resource network. This body of computer professionals would allow
organizations and specifically the Canadian government to provide employment
to rural areas in which there would otherwise be limited employment
opportunities. There are many, many other aspects to this idea that could
be explored.

3. Professional Certification

I'd love to see CLUE in conjunction with Linux International and the LPI
encourage and enable the professional certification process in Canada. In
addition to this, I'd like to see the creation and implementation of a
business track to the LPI Certification based on real-world "business
cases".

This is just a start. I'm sure there are conceivably 100's of projects CLUE
can undertake. Any ideas?

Thanks
Bill
