The folks who are specifically charged with doing fundraising won't
necessarily be the (only) ones determining how the collected money gets
spent.

In fact, it's important that there be some specific separation between the
process of collecting money and the process of prioritizing its use. This
way there's less likelyhood that a company would be be able to sway the
group in a certain direction simply by virtue of having contributed.

IMO this is problematic as it runs in direct competiton with LUGs which
themselves charge dues (ie, Vancouver). We could be seen as trying to cut
into their revenue.
