Actually Premiere Pro CS3 does import the audio of mpg just fine. I’ve been
that for over a year now.

Encore, on the other hand, wants the video and audio separate, so the export
from Premiere Pro CS3 automatically makes m2v and wav files, and both
“assets” are imported into Encore onto the same timeline. That keeps the
audio in sync with the video.

How did you extract the audio in premiere or somewhere else. Please let me
know.
